SEAN REYES proved a good buy for Take That and Cool It on Saturday, rifling in a wicked freekick to give his new team maximum points against Coca All- Stars in the Caribbean Welders Fishing Pond League. The victory puts “Cool It” one win away from clinching the league title and pocketing $2,000 and the Raffie “Morock” Mohammed Challenge Trophy.

Take That and Cool It had goals from Dillon Thomas and Reyes — formerly of Boys Town Strikers — while Anderson Richardson got Coca’s lone item.

In other results, Dream Team crushed Manzan United 6-2 to finish tied on points with leaders G Madrid but one goal shy in goal difference. With the two teams battling on different fronts - Dream Team for the league title and Manzan to qualify for the Big 8 - the game was expected to be a thriller.

And surprisingly it was Manzan who scored first, capitalising on an error from defender Markie Sylvester who lost the ball at the halfway line. With defenders out of position, a diagonal ball was sent to Anthon Samuel whose first time shot nestled into the back of the net.

Samuel’s goal would be the turning point in the game as he injured his ankle celebrating with a front flip and was unable to continue.

Dream Team would find the equaliser just a couple minutes later while Manzan were a man short and unable to bring in a player quick enough due to the forced change. John Stewart, charging forward in the midfield, was given too much space and he needed no further invitation to unleash a ferocious strike from distance that flew into the net.

A quick free-kick a minute later caught Manzan napping and Stephan Kerr on the right flank picked out a leaping Reon Moore whose header made it 2-1.

The combination would bear fruit again, Kerr again expertly finding Moore’s head with a pinpoint cross, but his nod down was pushed onto the crossbar by the ‘keeper. The rebound fell kindly to forward Patrick Parris whose header came back off the bar only to fall at his feet on the goalline for a simple tap-in. Manzan were in disarray and seemed to lack composure in attack as the half ended 3-1.

It was more of the same in the second period with a short corner on the right setting up an unmarked Stewart on his favoured left-foot to drill an unstoppable shot into the top left corner.

Dream Team continued to dominate the midfield and a counter saw Moore and Parris up against just one defender. The former slid the ball wide right to the latter but Parris was taken out as he tried to round the onrushing ‘keeper. Kerr would step up and score the resulting penalty with consummate ease.

Moore, on the end of another slick move, was slipped through one on one with the goalie and finished first time to make it 6-1 and complete the rout. Darkile Ferreira would pull one back for Manzan but it was little consolation.

In other results, Dragon FC beat Fishing Pond All-Stars 5-1 to stay in the Big 8 hunt while Fishing Pond Youths beat Sunrisers 1-0.
