It was a demonstration of Total dominance in all competitions by Terminal All Stars as the 2015 bpTT Razack Jan Memorial Mayaro Football League ended in a rousing climax at the Ortoire Recreation Ground last weekend.

Supporters turned out in numbers to witness a supreme Terminal All Stars team trounce May- Guaya United 4-0 to capture the Senior Division knockout title and remain undefeated for the entire season, breaking all records in an unprecedented feat since the inception of the Mayaro league.

MayGuaya enjoyed greater success in the junior divisions, emerging Knockout champions in the Under-17 Division and double champions – League and Knockout – in the Under-15 Division.

Terminal captain, Ryan Stewart, was full of praise for his team, “It’s always challenging because players are working and have other commitments, but we stepped up to the challenge as a united team and emerged unbeaten. It is always a pleasure playing in this league and all the teams are very well supported by the community.

It’s extra special for us to play under the bpTT colours because of their longstanding commitment to this league over the years. We are already looking forward to great things next year.” Now in its 16th year, the league is sponsored by energy company BP Trinidad and Tobago and has been organised for the last five years by Illusions International Sports Club. Following the game, the crowd made their way to the nearby Ortoire Community Centre for the prize-giving ceremony.

Ronda Francis, Corporate Responsibility Manager, bpTT, gave top marks to the league, “We are proud to support this football league in Mayaro. One of the things we requested was the inclusion of youth divisions in the competition in order to discover and develop talent for the future. This approach has paid dividends and we have seen players graduate to the senior levels and even nationally.

BPTT remains fully committed to supporting sporting endeavours in the community and we look forward to a bright future filled with Mayaro’s sporting stars.” Also bringing greetings and expressing their pleasure with the quality of football were Minister of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries, Clarence Rambarat, as well as Councillor for Cocal/Mafeking, Brinsley Maharaj.

Presenting a report on the season was the Secretary of the Illusions International Sports Club, Bartholomew ‘Bunny’ Lynch.

“The competition was excellent this year and although there is room for improvement in some areas, it was good to see a high quality of competitive play balanced with camaraderie which extends to our relationship with bpTT, which has supported this league unwaveringly over the years. We sincerely thank them for that. We look forward to bring more changes and improvements when the league re-opens in June next year,” he said.
