AN ARRAY of past and present national footballers will be on display as the Malta Carib Alcons Club ends its 38th season with a friendly match at the WASA Ground, St Joseph today, from 3 pm.

Ex-Alcons players are being invited to attend, and even compete, in this afternoon’s match, according to the club’s main organiser Alvin Corneal.

Among the past Alcons members expected to don their football gear today are Corneal’s son, Trinidad and Tobago Under-17 World Cup coach Anton, Pro League Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dexter Skeene, Harlem Strikers coach Ansil Elcock, national women’s team coach Marlon Charles, Pro League coaches Michael McComie (Joe Public), Jamaal Shabazz (Caledonia AIA) and Kerry Jamerson (Defence Force), Peter Lewis, Alvin Thomas, Kerry Noray, Peter Alfred, Kestor Lendore, Anthony Dhanoolal, Garnet Craig, Keith Eddy, Reynold George, Stephen Choy Yuen, Colin Skeene, Joel Hyacinth and Darren Millien.

Other football personalities due to attend the match are Arnold Dwarika, Ron La Forest, Ken Butcher, Wayne Smart and Colin Murray.

A number of Alcons footballers, who are currently on scholarships in the United States, will form part of the local team.

According to a media release, the club’s academy “has embarked upon a new surge of young talent in age groups of five to 16 years old, and three age- group teams will begin preparation to attend the Intercontinental Cup tournament from July 2-9.”

The Alcons team are also due to tour the United States, particularly Atlanta, Georgia and Raleigh, North Carolina, in March.
