JEROME CHARLES scored a double, including the winner in stoppage time, as Queen’s Park overcame a combative Edinburgh 500 FC unit to prevail 4-3 in their CNG National Super League Championship Division Match Day 14 fixture, at the Dibe Recreation Ground, Long Circular, St James.

In Tuesday’s clash of the top and bottom placed teams, Calvi Grazette put Edinburgh ahead in the seventh minute but Charles evened the scores in the 38th. 

Benedict Barratt found the back of the net for the league-leading Parkites four minutes later, however Aswad Alves equalised for Edinburgh in the 47th. 

Josiah Grazette found the back of the net in the 82nd to put Edinburgh 3-2 ahead, but that was a prelude to a dramatic turn of events. Akil Glasgow had an 89th minute equaliser for Queen’s Park and Charles netted, in stoppage time, to ensure that the Parkites stayed atop the 10-team standings. 

Prisons FC remain three points adrift of Queen’s Park, in second spot, after a 3-0 victory over Xtra Foods Chaguanas FC at the New Settlement Ground in Chaguanas, while Petit Valley United moved up one spot to fifth after trouncing Malabar FC 6-3 at the D’Abadie Recreation Ground, Arouca. 

Eric Charles recorded a hat-trick for Petit Valley, with goals in the 28th, 45th and 49th, while Karamo Samuel (19th), Chuvalos George (69th) and Omari Samuel (79th) added one apiece. Malabar got a pair from Richard Ayers (77th and 90th) and one from Mariba Imhotep (66th). 

At the Barrackpore Recreation Ground, hosts Barrackpore United got past Saddle Hill Hotspur by a 3-1 margin. Mikheil Peters scored twice, in the 41st and 90th, while former Trinidad and Tobago midfielder/ striker Conrad Smith netted in the 20th for Barrackpore. 

Saddle Hill’s goal was scored by ex-national striker Hector Sam, in the 51st. 

There was a lone contest on Wednesday, with third-placed Cunupia FC rallying from an early deficit to defeat the University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT ) 2-1 at the Edinburgh 500 Recreation Ground in Chaguanas. 

Jamal Creighton netted for UTT after nine minutes of play, but Cunupia fought back in the second half, and were rewarded with strikes from Stevon Stoute (56th) and Lester Joseph (71st). 

Tomorrow, there will be a pair of rescheduled games at the Edinburgh 500 Ground.

From 5 pm, Cunupia will battle Prisons and, two hours later, Edinburgh will host Chaguanas FC.
