Cunupia FC have moved up to fourth in the nine-team National Super League Championship Division standings, following a 3-0 victory over of Carenage United in a replayed fixture on Saturday.

Cunupia scored all their goals in the opening half. Stevon Stoute opened their account after 21 minutes and Michael Yaw Darko doubled the lead five minutes later, before Taurean Sobers put the outcome beyond doubt in the 32nd minute. Stoute and Darko are now tied for third among the division’s scorers, with seven goals each.

The top five teams have all completed eight matches. The University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) head the points table with 17, while Central 500 Spartans (16) are in second spot, trailing UTT by just one point. Barrackpore United are third on 14 points and Cunupia FC lie fourth on 13. Carenage United dropped from fourth to fifth following Saturday’s defeat; they have 11 points from their eight outings.

The Championship Division is the second tier of the NSL; a new round of matches in the top division —the Premiership—were played off yesterday.
