Three different players found the back of the net for Westside Superstarz, which was crowned Under-15 champion of the newly formatted 2013 Republic Bank Republic Cup National Youth Football League, which came to a close, at the Queen's Park Savannah, Port-of-Spain, on Saturday.

All three finals were held, following both semifinals in the U-15, U-13 and U-11 divisions, which were won by Westside, WASA FC and Blast Semi-Pro, respectively. For Westside, which eased into the final with a 3-0 beating of St Clair Coaching School, Rivaldo Brown, Isaiah Holder and Matthaeus Granger were all on target in the final, which Westside won by the same 3-0 scoreline over Joe Public FC.

St Anthony’s College midfielder Shem Clauzel and Raheim Borde scored in the semifinals, before a St Clair CS own goal completed the easy win. In the Under-13 final, WASA FC held off a late surge from Cap Off Youths to take the title via a 2-1 scoreline. Jalani Augustus opened for the Waterboys in the 17th minute, five minutes before Gabriel John made it 2-0.

Tyrike Andrews pulled one goal back in the 38th minute for Cap Off Youths, which proved to be the final item of the match. WASA also reached to the final after a 2-1 win over Guaya United in the semifinal. Joh also scored in that fixture. The first final of the day saw Blast Semi-Pro meet Trendsetter Hawks. Terell Wiley scored the only goal, a winner for Blast in the 13th minute.

The new format for this year’s competition saw Under-15 and Under-13 teams fielding 11 players on a regular sized football pitch. Girls played among boys for the first time in the Under-11 division on a smaller field.
