Longdenville Government is into the final of the Atlantic Primary Schools football league, after their narrow 1-0 win over Vance River in the semifinals of the girls division at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium in Marabella, yesterday.

Longdenville dominated play but was kept at bay by Vance River in the first half. Both teams went into the dressing rooms locked at 0-0. However, on the resumption, Longdenville continued to press forward and Vance River finally caved in under the pressure.

Finding the back of the net much to the joy of her schoolmates was top goalscorer this season for Longdenville, Shneice Maynard. The match ended 1-0 and Longdenville will now sit and await its opponent for the final carded for November 21 at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port-of-Spain.

Meanwhile, 11-time national primary schools champion Bon Accord Government will play host today to Tunapuna Boys RC in the other semifinal match.

A big crowd is expected to descend on the Dwight Yorke Stadium in Bacolet, Tobago, to support the home team, as they bid to regain control of primary schools football in T&T. Preceeding this match another Tobago team, Pentecostal Life and Light, will oppose Lower Cumuto at 10 am also at the same venue.

Pentecostal Life and Light in its debut season will start as favourites in this clash because it has been the most consistent team in the girls section of the tournament. On Thursday, Tobago’s Whim Anglican battles Arima Boys at the Dwight Yorke Stadium from 11 am.
