There will be a new national champion in the Atlantic Primary School Under 15 Girls competition, following the defeat of Moruga RC by Vance River RC yesterday at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium in Marabella.

Vance River RC yesterday won a thriller on sudden penalty kicks following a 1-1 draw between the teams.

Vance River RC went ahead as early as the fifth minute when Queen Jacent scored, while in the second session the former champions Moruga responded through Akayla Charles in the 31st minute. Extra time could not separate the two teams. After being also balanced 3-3 from spot-kicks, it went to a sudden-death which Vance Rivers won.

In the second game of the double header , Bon Air Government edged Mon Repos RC 1-0 to move into the semi-final round of the competition. Bon Air Gov’t got the winner through Kalicia Thomas, in the 10th minute.

At Centre of Excellence, Tobago champions Bon Accord Gov’t beat Sangre Grande Gov’t 2-1 in a very competitive affair. Double scorer Denekia Nicholson was on the mark in the first and second half for Bon Accord while Alliyah Trim pulled one back for Sangre Grande Gov’t in the 39th minute.

In the other match in Port of Spain, champions St Agnes Anglican school outplayed Enterprise Government School, the Caroni District winner, with a 5-0 drubbing. The hero of the game was Destiny Williams who scored all five goals.

Today, Bon Accord’s under 15 boys will be looking to emulate the feat of the girls when they play San Fernando Boys RC in a quarterfinal match up at the at the Canaan/Bon Accord Grounds . All four Under-15 boys quarter-final will be played today.
