Shaquille Cox registered a double as reigning Leeward A champions, St Andrews Anglican, survived a tough test from league debutants, Pentecostal Light and Life, for a 4-3 victory when the Milo Tobago Primary School Football League kicked off on Monday.

Cox gave St Andrews the lead in the eight minute only to see Mattheus Campbell equalise four minutes later. Terrell Kennedy restored St Andrews lead at 2-1 in the 21st minute which it took into the half.

However, six minutes after the restart Campbell equalised again only for Colin Sargeant to put St Andrews ahead yet again in the 41st minute before Cox scored his second three minutes later to make it 4-2.

With eight minutes left in the match, Nzagi Charles cut the deficit to one goal but St Andrews defended stoutly to avoid dropping points at home.

Hope Anglican had a good day as its girls’ team trounced Scarborough Roman Catholic 3-0 with a goal each from Akeisha Collette, Keddie Alexander and Kershelle Davis.

Afterwards the Hope boys’ team held the Scarborough to a 1-1 draw with Renaldo Samuel and Adrian Collette the scorers.
