In commemoration of the late Peter Stone, former director of Neal and Massy and an avid fan of Trinidad and Tobago football, family and friends of the deceased “Red Devil” gathered at the St Anthony’s College Ground, Westmoorings a couple weekends ago.

In attendance was FIFA Vice President Jack Warner and several other football officials and other close friends to witness a memorial match played at the ground.

A pavilion was also named after Stone for his longstanding contribution to the College team over the years before his passing because of a cancer illness.

Warner remembered Stone at the launch of the Hyundai Goodwill Ball tour at Neal and Massy last Tuesday saying that the launch of the tour was indicative of the legacy left by Stone who contributed in many ways to the Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation before his death. He was also popular among national footballers, many of whom he always went the extra mile to ensure they  were well taken care of in whatever way of assistance  required from him dating back to several World Cup campaigns in the past. Sadly, Stone did not make it to witness one of his lifetime wishes of seeing a National team qualify for a World Cup. It was felt that he definitely would have been smiling down on Dwight Yorke and his teammates when they defeated Bahrain 1-0 last November to book their spot in Germany.

“Peter was an avid fan of the game, particularly from a local standpoint and he was loved and will always be loved and remembered by all persons and footballers who crossed his path,” Warner said.
