SECOND-placed Trinidad and Tobago face two tough return World Cup qualifying matches later this year but should be prepared for their opponents Guatemala and the United States, says national football coach Everald Cummings.
"One thing I don't tend to do and that is to take things for granted. We have two hard games coming up and we are going to work harder. I will protect the players and train them harder, and let them understand that this is the time to work, not the time to ease up," Cummings told reporters.
"Although we have gotten three points from the last two matches, we haven't reached anywhere," he said. The victory against Guatemala kept Trinidad and Tobago's hopes of securing one of the two qualifying berths in the five-team CONCACAF play-offs alive.
The current Caribbean champions, Trinidad and Tobago, are second on seven points from six matches while Costa Rica are at the top of the standings on 11 points from eight matches.
The United States of America have mustered five points from four games while Guatemala are fourth with two points from four matches and El Salvador are last on one point from four matches.
Trinidad and Tobago will clash with Guatemala on September 3 in the return fixture and the United States on November 19.
