St Augustine Secondary, zonal runner-up in the 2011 season, opened its account in the BGTT First Citizens Secondary Schools’ Football League, with a 15-0 whipping of newly promoted Bishop Anstey East, at its St Augustine ground, yesterday.

Chelsea Gibbs and Naomi Guerra scored four apiece, with Celeste Thomas sealing a hat-trick. Ariel Williams, Kandice Johnson, Portious Warren and Lauren Theodore, each scored a goal.

The perfect start saw St Augustine lead the table after day one on goal difference over Arima North which edged St George’s College 2-1.

Arima got its goals via a second half double from Shantal Yearwood, cancelling Khadejah de Freitas’ first half effort for St George’s. North Zone champions and Trinidad InterCol finalist, St Francois Girls’ College, started the season with a perfect three points without having to kick a ball.

Malick failed to appear for the match, handing St Francois a win by default. Providence, meanwhile, was made to work for its victory, but did so with a 1-0 triumph over Tranquility Secondary, at St Anthony’s Ground. Jazz Singh scored the winning goal midway through the first half.
