Providence won the BGTT SSFL Girls North Zone Intercol title yesterday, with a 3-0 win over 2007 champions Malick at the QRC grounds. Captain Stephanie Woo Ling scored a goal in each half to lead her side to the impressive victory. It was the third title for Providence in four years.
Samantha Kissoon opened the scoring in the fifth minute when she met a right side cross from Akeisha De La Rosa at the back post.

Late in the half, Providence was awarded a free kick 20 metres out on the left flank. Woo Ling expertly curled the ball up over the wall and down under the crossbar. Nikeisha Telemaque, marginally off her line, was completely out-foxed— 2-0 Providence. That was the score at the interval.

Providence was awarded a controversial penalty mid-way through the second half for a challenge in the penalty area, which Malick argued was a fifty-fifty ball. Melissa Woo Ling’s spot kick just missed as it struck the upright.

The Providence captain sealed the issue in the waning moments of the match. Woo Ling mirrored her first goal, again getting a long range free-kick to dip below the upright and evade Telemaque. The match ended 3-0 Providence.

Providence now awaits the winner of today’s South Zone final between Fyzabad Anglican and Debe High school to be played at Mannie Ramjohn Stadium in Marabella.
