Today is D-Day for the Secondary Schools Football League Girls Championship, with the final round of matches in the North, East, South and Tobago zones.

In the South Zone, Point Fortin East intend to mount a strong challenge to the Debe High School dynasty, when they meet the four-time defending South champions today at Guaracara Park, Pointe-a-Pierre.

Debe have an impressive record behind them, having won every encounter since 2008, and they have not conceded a goal this season, scoring 17.

Debe coach Clive Auguste is proud of his team and confident they can go on to challenge for a hat-trick of national league titles.

"They have to come to beat us," Auguste said yesterday of Point Fortin East, today's opponents. "The girls are pretty upbeat, the morale is pretty high, the national players are back in the fray."

Debe are not only depending on national players, captain Patrice Vincent, free flying winger Kayla Taylor, and top draw goalkeeper Linfah Jones. They have a few good young players as well, according to Auguste.

The Debe coach is aware his team need just a draw to progress to the knockout stage, having a healthy goal difference. But he made it clear they will be going out for the win.

In other South matches, Point Fortin West Secondary host Pleasantville Secondary, while Fyzabad Anglican are at home for their encounter with Holy Faith Convent.
