Tinesha Cobham was again on target for Vessigny when the school defeated Holy Faith Convent Penal 2-1 at Mahaica Ground in the BGTT First Citizens Secondary Schools Football League Girls Championship South Zone on Thursday.

Cobham scored in the season opener against the same opponents. Cherrece Marshall was also on target for the winners while Kerchelle Torres scored for the visitors in the first half.

The win put Vessigny on seven points, three behind leaders Debe which were not in action on the day. They, however, only lead Point Fortin East by a point.

Point Fortin East recorded their double when the schools defeated rivals Point Fortin West 3-0. Both Tamara Johnson and Kerdell Rojas, who were on target in the season opener against the same opponents were again on target in the round two opening fixture. The match was played at Techier Recreation Ground in Point Fortin.

Khadeem Jones was also on target for Point Fortin East to round off the scoring. Point Fortin East will have the opportunity to leapfrog Vessigny today, when the two teams replay a match day two fixture, which was postponed. A win would put Point Fortin East on nine points, one behind Debe.

In exciting Tobago Zone action, Roxborough continued their unbeaten streak when the team defeated Bishops 1-0.

The lone goal was scored by Kerrisha George. The team are on nine points in their opening three matches, two ahead of Scarborough which were 5-1 winners over Speyside.

Jenille Lawrence scored her fifth goal of the season when she completed a hat-trick. Cherise Roberts netted the other two goals, while Tisanne Leandra also scored her fifth goal of the season, with Speyside’s only item.
