Carapichaima East will be keen for more success on its visit to Tobago this afternoon, when it faces Signal Hill in a BG T&T Secondary Schools Football League national Big-Five quarterfinal at the Dwight Yorke Stadium, Bacolet, from 4 pm. Carapichaima, winners of the Central Zone title for a fifth straight season on Saturday, has made the journey to Tobago on three previous occasions and has twice come away victorious. Back in 1992, Caps had a win over Elizabeth’s College en route to reaching the national final, while last year it beat Mason Hall 2–0 to avenge a 2–1 defeat two years ago.

St. Augustine winsSt Augustine retained its East Zone title in the BG T&T Secondary Schools Football League after a 0-0 draw away to San Juan North at San Juan’s Bourg Mulatresse Ground, yesterday. Going into the match, St Augustine dubbed the “Green Machine” led the the seven-team table with 11 points from five matches and needed only to avoid defeat against third placed San Juan (nine points) to retain its zonal supremacy. The “Green Machine” was also without their most experienced player in Dinell Lopez who is with national Under-20 team in Venezuela competing in an invitational tournament. But San Juan, which needed to win at all costs, failed to deliver in front of a crowd of close to 2,000 spectators.

There is a new champion in the Tobago Zone of the BG T&T Secondary Schools Football League. Signal Hill dethroned Mason Hall as the title-holder with a convincing 6-1 win over Speyside away from home yesterday in a rescheduled match.
