Vernon Haynes, Former St. Benedicts College footballer died yesterday at the Mt. Hope Hospital.

He was founder of the "Soccer is Simple Academy" based in Couva. Both Vernon and his brother Brian Haynes were outstanding footballers from Carapichaima who also played in the United States of America.

The Veteran Footballers Foundation of Trinidad and Tobago extends condolences to his wife and family, and the entire St. Benedicts College football family, on the passing of this fine coach and footballer, who displayed the great principle of humility.

The funeral would be held on Saturday 28th March at the Carapichaima recreation ground, at 2:00pm, thence to the St Mary's Cemetery.

Only last month Vernon enjoyed the successful VFFOTT Carnival Reunion Lime, when he brought his Academy "Soccer is Simple" from Carapichaima to play against D&R youth Team, from Laventille.

Vernon was delighted to meet Clive Burnett, former Malvern and New York Generals, Goalkeeper who made the first pass to begin the match. He was also delighted to have Steve David signing autographs on the VFFOTT Commemorative Calendars presented to the young footballers.

By copy of this email, it gives me great pleasure to request Professor Reginald Renwick to give the eulogy to Vernon on behalf of VFFOTT at the funeral on Saturday.
