In form Isaiah Hudson got his second hat-trick and seventh goal in three matches as Naparima defeated host Fatima 4-1 to widen its lead at the top of the BGTT/First Citizens Secondary Schools Football Premier Division League table at Fatima College Grounds, Mucurapo Road, yesterday.
They are followed by St Mary’s College with 19, San Juan North with 18, and the duo of idle Queen’s Royal College and St Augustine, next with 17 apiece.
Hudson, who got a hat trick in a 5-1 thrashing of Trinity College East, a week ago and then one in a 3-1 defeat of St Augustine last Saturday, opened the scoring for Naparima in the 24th minute while team-mate Renaldo Francois made it 2-0 nine minutes before the half-time whistle.
Fatima, which is deep in relegation trouble got a lifeline through midfielder Krishorn Alexander’s 76th minute effort to cut the lead to 2-1, however Hudson calmed the nerves of his team-mates and coach Angus Eve by adding two late items in the 82nd and 88th to complete his second treble of the season.
At the David Williams Recreation Ground, Penal, Shiva Boys got a 43rd minute item from Quinn Rodney to edge San Juan North 1-0 and move ahead of Presentation which went under to visiting St Mary’s courtesy a Bryant Van Low goal at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella.
St Benedict’s also won 1-0 away to Fyzabad thanks to a Kerwin Mitchell strike while visitors St Anthony’s got a second-half double from Haile Beckles to earn a come-from-behind 2-1 victory at Carapichaima East.
In other matches yesterday, St Augustine spanked winless Trinity East 3-1 and Speyside battled past Trinity College of Moka, 2-1 courtesy a goal three minutes into injury time from Kerri Mc Donald.
