Isaiah Hudson scored a goal in each half as reigning champion of the BGTT/First Citizens Secondary Schools Football Premier Division League Naparima College blanked host Carapichaima East 2-0 to move to within ine win of retaining its crown.
Fellow South Zone schools, Shiva Boys and St Benedict’s College are next with 23 and 22 points, respectively, also from 12 matches, after their clash at the David Williams Recreation Ground in Penal ended 2-2 with the match officials having to be escorted from the venue due to crowd trouble.
Despite the title being out of reach, the trio of Queen’s Royal College, San Juan North and St Anthony’s College are next with 21 points apiece in the race for a top four finish to qualify for the “Big-Four” while St Augustine has 20, and St Mary’s College, 19 as they two still can qualify.
In other matches yesterday, QRC edged San Juan North 1-0 at home, Speyside ended visitors St Anthony’s eight match unbeaten streak with a 2-1 result; St Augustine trounced Fatima 3-0, and Fyzabad slipped past Trinity College East, 2-1.
