Playing away from home, San Juan Secondary travelled to Barataria Senior Secondary's field on Third Avenue to earn a comfortable 3-0 victory yesterday in the East Zone of the BG T&T Secondary Schools Football League.

The win was the Bourg Mulatresse team's second of the season and moved them into a tie for second position with Arima Senior Comprehensive on seven points.

With one game in hand-their third round game was postponed last Thursday-the Dial Dynamos pulled off a slim 1-0 win over Hillview College at Warren Street to keep apace with early front-runners St Augustine Secondary.

As guests to the Blue Thunder, the "Green Machine" managed to just get the better of arch-rivals El Dorado Senior Comprehensive 3-2 in a tight tussle.

And St George's College rebounded from their high-scoring 6-5 loss to ElDo last Thursday with an easy 2-0 triumph over zonal debutantes Valencia High School in Valencia.

Back in Barataria, though, the hosts failed to show enough pride to defend their home field advantage.

And San Juan strode into and around their opponents' back yard as if in their own front porch.

San Juan simply dominated proceedings.

Their midfielders Ayinde George, Rodnell John, Anthony Guppy and Kerry Daniel ran roughshod over their Barataria counterparts with their superior skill and possession.

And the "Sah Waur" strikers Kadeem Gibbs and captain Elijah Manner were rewarded with regular service which they did not always capitalise on. At the opposite end, Barataria forward, the speedy Jonathan Romain, cut a lonely figure.

At times, when the visitors' pressing attacks forced the majority of the home team to retreat deep to defend, the gap between Romain and his closest teammate was huge, big enough for a five-a-side small goal "sweat" to be played.

That situation made for wishful and really hopeless long balls sprayed forward to Romain, who was adequately covered by Troy Lindsay, Rodell Elcock and Akil Harley.

Barataria did manage to find him some support for their most threatening move of the game after half-hour when he combined with Akil Sandy and John Belgrave to get a clear and open shot on goal that was only negated by San Juan keeper Joseph John-Williams' timely out-stretched right hand.

But that cohesion going forward was as rare as a black pearl.

The sustained pressure of their opponents made for a soft goal two minutes later when Barataria custodian Anil Joseph let the ball out of his grasp for John to pounce on it and place the sphere in the unoccupied net.

Then the familiar trend of the San Juan superiority and the concession of possession by Barataria continued after that.

That sort of play produced a Gibbs' item-slotting low past Joseph in the 58th minute- before captain Manner guided a header from Guppy's left-side corner for the final goal with 15 minutes remaining in regulation time.

San Juan continued to dominate for the remainder of the encounter.

Like what transpired during the majority of the game, there was nothing that Barataria seemed to be able to or cared to do about it.
