DEFENDING champions Real Dimension are much better now than their opening match of the 2009 Women's League Football (WoLF) season when they were hammered 7-0 by the Trinidad and Tobago Under-17 women, who are currently preparing for the 2010 FIFA Under-17 Women's World Cup, and they can prove that when the teams meet from 6 p.m. this evening at Marvin Lee Stadium (MLS), Macoya in a second round match.

Norwegian Evan Pellarud, technical director of the national U-17 team, was on hand at the MLS on Saturday as Real Dimension battled to a tough goalless Premier League draw with Joe Public.

Pellarud's U-17s played out a 1-1 draw with Joe Public the previous week and could expect an equally tough match against the champs.

And Tobago FC continue to make full use of the availability of United States-based Young Harris College players Kennya "Ya Ya" Cordner and Candace Edwards.

After imposing a first defeat on the T&T U-17s by a 1-0 margin two weeks ago, the Tobago team remained unbeaten with a 5-2 thrashing of San Juan Jabloteh in the other Premier League match played on Saturday.

At the Marvin Lee Stadium on Saturday, smooth-knocking Joe Public had slightly the better of their meeting with Real Dimension, but failed to regularly get past a tough defence.

In a match of very few chances, Joe Public striker Avenille Issac had opportunities to score on either side of the half but failed to get by goalkeeper Shantelle Douglas.

On the first occasion, Issac had a clear run after the ball slipped past the final Real Dimension defender.

She blazed a trail to goal and hit a powerful shot which the Real Dimension keeper expertly pushed aside.

With national midfielder Aveanne Douglas pulling the strings in midfield, Joe Public generally controlled the tempo but failed to create clear chances for veteran striker Kathy Ann Nixon and Issac.

However, Issac had another look at goal in the second half when breaching the left side of the penalty area, but when challenged by the Real Dimension keeper she dragged her low shot just past the back post.

Tobago upsets Jabloteh 5-2.
By: Shari John (T&T Guardian).

Unlikely favourites, Tobago FC, trampled the mighty Jabloteh 5-2 on Saturday, at the Plymouth Recreational, Tobago, to find themselves even closer to table leaders, T&T Under-17s in the Women’s League Football (WoLF) on Saturday.

By no means is the team from the sister isle favourite in the competition, however, it has let its feet do the talking and has thus far already taken down the U-17s, Petrotrin and now Jabloteh. Prolific scorer, Denise Fritz, was unable to unleash her usual fury on Tobago, and only found the back of the net once to decrease Jabloteh’s goal deficit, while Tiana Batoe, put in the other.

For Tobago, it was the ever dependable Candace Edwards and Kennya Cordner, who brought their team home with two goals a piece, while Tamara Wilson scored once, to help put the match out of Jabloteh’s reach. Joe Public and defending champion Real Dimension played to a 0-0 draw at the Marvin Lee Stadium in Macoya.
