THE village of Speyside is getting ready to celebrate their team winning the Premier Division of the Tobago Football Association.

And they have every reason to do so as their team Speyside edged past Roxborough Lakers 3-2 at the Cyd Gray Stadium on Tuesday. Ace goal scorer Pavel Warrick doubled up for the champions-in-waiting, while Akeem Jordan got the other goal.

Challengers Leeds United, who led the standings previously, were held to a 2-2 draw by Georgia in the earlier game at the same venue.

So Sidey’s have leapt to a clear nine-point lead with 43 points to Leeds’34. Both teams have five games remaining in the three round series.

Despite their defeat, Roxborough Lakers with 30 points are challenging for the runners-up position with a game in hand to Leeds.
