Dominic Kerr netted a double and Selvon Turner added another as Yorke's Pride defeated Bay Boys Chelsea 3-1 in the race for the title in the 1976 F.C. Phoenix Champions League at the Canaan Recreation Ground last Sunday.

Turner hit a low drive past goalkeeper Jeffery Delpeche in the seventh minute after the Chelsea defence failed to clear the ball. Then in the second half, Kerr scored his double to put the match out of the reach of Chelsea.

He exploited space between the defense and the goalkeeper to prod the ball past Delpeche in goal in the 66th and 74th minute of play. Garth Moses scored a consolation for Chelsea in the 70th minute.

The victory pushed Yorke's Pride to the top of the standings on ten points with a pivotal game against other title aspirant, Under 20, remaining.

Earlier in the week, Joel Alleyne scored with a freekick in stoppage time to edge Milford Court 3-2 for their second win of the week. Dave Crimshaw and Curtis Trim were the other scorers for Yorke's Pride. Milford Court got their goals from Shesden Solomon and Shawn Christmas from the penalty spot.

In the first game of the double header Milford Court and Crown Point met in a bottom of the table clash. Crown Point took advantage of a depleted Chelsea which started the game with seven players and raced to a 3-0 lead.

But with the arrival of two additional players Milford Court struck back forcefully in the second half, thanks to a hattrick from Shawn Christmas and one from Aaron Quashie, to snatch a 4-4 draw. For Crown Point, Anthony Trim netted a double with Lejandro Williams and Kevin Keith netting one apiece.

In the other game played last Wednesday, Buccoo F.C. lost ground in the title race when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Crown Point. Kerwyn Roberts scored an own goal in the 19th minute to give Crown Point the lead. But with time running out in the second half Shurlan Carrington hit a low drive which bubbled under the body of Bushell in goal to earn Buccoo a draw.

The standing going into the final week shows Yorke's Pride 10 pts (4), Buccoo F.C. 8 pts. (4), U20 Young Gunners 7 pts.(3) ), Bay Boys Chelsea 3 pts. (4), Milford Court 2 pts. (4) and Crown Point 2 pts. (5).
