NATIONAL QUARRIES North East Stars have surrendered their T&T Pro League, but they look sure to end with a title this season after whipping Defence Force 4-1 in the $60,000 Lucozade Big 6 competition.

After beating Caledonia AIA/Fire(1-0) and Jabloteh (3-0), in their earlier matches, Stars' win kept their 100 per cent record in the competition in tact with a 4-1 win over Defence Force. They have just two matches left in the season and one more victory will give them the title.

Against Defence Force, ex-national striker Gary Glasgow shot the Sangre Grande-based team ahead in the ninth minute, before St Vincent & Grenadines midfielder Kendall Velox doubled their tally two minutes later.

Kevon Carter pulled a goal back for the Army, but a minute after he scored, Glasgow netted again to put Stars up at 3-1. Keryn Navarro scored the final goal for Stars, who now lead the Big 6 standing with nine points from three matches, four more than second-placed Petrotrin United (5 pts), who were held 1-1 by San Juan Jabloteh.
