Defending League champs Defence Force got off the bottom of the table on Tuesday night with a 1-0 win over fourth positioned W Connection at the Ato Boldon Stadium in a rescheduled Round One Match Day Two fixture.

Striker Richard Roy converted a 69th minute penalty decision by referee Annaz Mohammed beating Connection’s Jan Michael Williams, after Kevon Carter went to ground inside the area.

Connection’s best chance for a goal despite having the better ball possession was in the 23rd minute when striker Hashim Arcia lofted a high ball over an advancing goalkeeper Kevin Graham, only to see his effort land on the crossbar.

The Ross Russell coached Defence Force now occupies seventh position with 7 points from five games, one point more than Police FC dropping into eight.

Meantime Connection failed to pull away from the pack at the top of the standings, remaining in fourth with 18 points, the same as leaders T&TEC FC, second positioned Adam’s Construction San Juan Jabloteh and third positioned Caledonia AIA.

St. Ann’s Rangers sits in fifth with 9 points and DIRECTV North East Stars in sixth with 8 points.
