The Youth Pro League has a new challenger this season, in southerners Point Fortin Civic, when the 2014 YPL kicks off on Sunday at four venues across Trinidad.

TT Pro League debutants Point Fortin Civic have done remarkably well at the professional division, sitting third on the Digicel Pro League standings after two rounds, and on Sunday the southerners will field youth teams in the Under 14, under 16 and Under 18/Reserve divisions.

Point Fortin Civic will host last season’s Under 13 winners North East Stars at the Mahaica Oval in Point Fortin beginning with the Under 14s from 10 am, the Under 16s from 2 pm, and the Under 18/Reserve from 4 pm.

“We are starting on Sunday and we will be ready,” said PFC Technical Director and former Trinidad and Tobago standout Steve David.

“The guys look really good. They are ready to play and are all pretty excited,” added the 62-year-old.

“But we don’t know what to expect. Until we get a feel of the (Youth) league and know it’s like, only then I’d have an idea on how well we would do.”

Also on Sunday, last season’s Under 15 and Under 17 winners St. Ann’s Rangers will host San Juan Jabloteh in the Under 14, Under 16 and Under 18/Reserve levels at Trinity College ground in Moka.

Last season Jabloteh represented Defence Force at all youth levels, finishing runners-up in the Under 13 and Under 17s and third in the Under 15s, which forecasts mouth-watering day of youth football clashes at the Moka venue.

Police and W Connection will do battle at all divisions at the St. James Barracks ground, while Caledonia will tackle Central FC in the Under 16 and Under 18/Reserve divisions at the Valtrin Recreation Ground in Valsayn.
