Pro League leaders W Connection will renew rivalry with Civic tonight, but their fourth meeting of the season means even more,  with both teams now desperate for points as the 2013-2014 season nears its end.

The team meet  at 8 p.m. in the featured match of a double-header at Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva, which also features second-placed

Central FC (35 points) and that also matches second-placed Central FC and  Police (27 points) who are in sixth-placed but still in contention. W Connection (40 points) still lead the Digicel Pro League, but are just six points clear of the chasing pack, with just four matches left after tonight clash. Meanwhile, Civic have suffered back-to-back defeat to Defence Force (2-1) and Central FC (2-0).

W Connection and Civic have already met on three occasions this season. W Connection edged  Civic 6-5 on penalties in the quarterfinal round of the First Citizens Cup following a goalless draw at the Mahaica Oval, then defeated the southerners 2-0 in the opening round of the Pro League at Ato Boldon Stadium, before Civic won at their Mahaica Oval stronghold.

Civic’ s 2-1 victory that day is the first of just two League defeats suffered this season by W Connection head-coach Stuart Charles Fevrier recognises the importantance of getting a good results tonight.

Fevrier, has already led his side to this season’s Digicel Charity Shield, Toyota Classic and the FA Trophy.

“Every game right now are important in the league and we feel we have an equal chance (against Civic),” Fevrier  said.”We are the team that everyone wants to beat. But that only makes us better.”

Meanwhile, Civic head-coach Reynold Carrington knows their title challenge could end with defeat tonight.

“I think the three points is what will keep us in the race,” said Carrington. “So we are committed to getting three points because we aren’t far behind although we are fourth. A win (against Connection) will also do well for confidence for the remainder of the league games.”
