The average age of the United Petrotrin team is just about 22 years, and Coach Brian Williams has used the current transfer window to beef up his squad with some experienced players.

Seasoned striker Peter Prosper is the biggest name that ‘oilmen’ have been able to get under their wings, as well as experienced central defender Felix Seales and a midfielder by the name of Marlon Lewis.

Peter Prosper, who had a stint with Starworld Strikers last season after returning from Lebanon, recently was playing with Pale Seco and has now joined the ranks of Petrotrin, and at 35 years old still has a lot to offer.

Central defender Felix Seales also coming from Pale Seco is expected to add some experience at the back, and Marlon Lewis comes from Club Sando and is a little nippy midfielder.

Head Coach Brian Williams, admitted the objective was to add stability, strength and experience to the squad.

“I believe these additions will help us in terms of striking a proper balance and will certainly add strength to our line up,” said the former Strike Squad defender.

He added, “The three players were all given a run in our last match against North East Stars at the Sangre Grande Recreation Ground and they impressed so much, that we were able to come away with a goalless draw.”

Looking ahead Coach Williams said we are slowly coming into our own, this year our players are much more comfortable, with the backing of Petrotrin as a major sponsor, and look out in a year or two we will definitely be a force to be reckoned with.
