Andre Toussaint and Atiba Charles scored first-half goals to help W Connection maintain their 10-point lead at the top of the T&T Professional Football League’s Senior Division standings.

Toussaint and Charles’s goals were good enough to lead W Connection to a 2-1 victory over defending league champions National Quarries North-East Stars on the Sangre Grande Recreation Ground yesterday.

Toussaint scored his 10th goal of the season in the 14th minute and Charles doubled the score in the 24th minute.

Fabian Garcia reduced the score for “Stars” from the penalty spot in the 73rd minute, but it was too little too late for the champion side.

With the win, W Connection improved to 36 points from 13 matches — 10 more than San Juan Jabloteh, who blanked Caledonia AIA Fire 2-0 at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Mucurapo.

Trent Noel got the opening goal for Jabloteh almost on the stroke of half-time and Kerry Baptiste sealed the win five minutes before full-time for the San Juan club, Baptiste converted an 82nd minute penalty, after Jason Marcano was brought down by defender Mark Small, Jabloteh now with 26 points.

Over at the Dwight Yorke Stadium in Bacolet, Tobago, team captain Devon Jorsling did the double to lead Defence Force to a 5-0 victory over Tobago United. Jorsling netted in the 12th and 64th minutes while Kevon Carter got into the scoring in the 23rd minute, Anton Pierre in the 67th and Christopher Durity in the 87th.
