TT Pro League Champions B Mobile Joe Public and Trinidad and Tobago midfielder Kerry Baptiste took his mind off the training field for a moment to celebrate the birth of his first child.

Just days away from the start of the 2007 season the newly signed joe public player became a proud father of a bouncing baby boy who he named after himself Kerry Baptiste Jr.

Kerry Baptiste Jr. was born on the March 8, to Kerry’s girlfriend of two years Renee Mark.

The former CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh midfielder explained to ‘ttproleague.com’ his reason for naming his son after himself saying, “I am trying to do the best that I can for my son. I want him to have something to stand on as a person. My profession is football and I am doing the best that I can to be recognized in order to properly provide for him.”

“My son has my name and I am hoping to leave a good legacy of which he would be proud in the future,” he said.

As to whether or not he would like his son to follow in his footsteps as a footballer, Kerry said, “I would love my son to be involved in the sport of football and to be a great player, but I can’t decide for him. All I know is that football is a great way out of not so good scenarios in life, but it’s all up to him,” said Baptiste.

In an earlier interview done by ‘ttproleague.com’ Baptiste promised his best season ever after joining Joe Public in March and sighting the birth of first child as the drive behind his performance this coming season.

Kerry Babtiste played all of his Pro football with CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh after joining the San Juan based club back in 2000 before joining the ‘Eastern Lions’ ahead of the 2007 season.

Kerry recently teamed up with his younger brother Christian Baptiste on the national team this year in a couple of friendly internationals. Christian currently plays for another Pro League Club Defence Force.
