Trent Noel last night won a Diahatsu Sirion motor vehicle after being confirmed as 2008 Player of the Year when the Digicel Pro League made their presentation of awards at the Marvin Lee Stadium, where the new season was launched with a double-header.
Thirty-two year-old Noel was outstanding for league champions San Juan Jabloteh, but has since moved on to United Petrotrin.

Predictably, Jabloteh was announced as 2008 Team of the Year and their former head-coach Terry Fenwick as Coach of the Year. North East Stars was the Most Disciplined team; Defence Force striker Devon Jorsling won the Golden Boot for the 21 goals he scored last season; and Raymond Mc Clean (W Connection) was Administrator of the Year. The Match Commissioner of the Year was Boris Punch; Referee of the Year was FIFA ref Neil Brizan, while Joseph Taylor was Assistant-referee of the Year.
Noel is 2008 Pro League MVP.

Former Clico San Juan Jabloteh captain, Trent Noel, was rewarded for his consistent and outstanding performances during the 2008 T&T Pro League season when he was named “Player-of-the-Year.” The naming of the Pro League’s Player-of-the-Year was part of a scaled down award function held following the opening double-header of the now sponsored Digicel Pro League at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Macoya, last night.

Noel was presented with a brand new $125,000 Daihatsu Sirion motor car from sponsors, Toyota T&T Ltd for the achievement. In 2007 midfielder Marvin Oliver, at the time a member of Caledonia AIA of Morvant/Laventille,was adjudged the Player-of-the-Year and he was rewarded with a Toyota Yaris, courtesy Toyota T&T Ltd. During the 2008 season the 32-year-old Noel, voted Jabloteh’s 2008 top player and who has since joined southerners United Petrotrin, led Jabloteh to a successful defence of its league title in addition to the Lucozade Sports “Big Six” and Toyota Classic crowns.

The performances by Noel, the Carenage resident and former national youth golfer, has also seen him earn a call-up to the Soca Warriors team for the Concacaf Final Round Qualifiers to the 2010 South Africa World Cup. Jabloteh had more reason to celebrate at Macoya before starting the title defence against W Connection after being named “Team of the Year,” while club technical director, Englishman Terry Fenwick, was voted “Coach of the Year”
