W Connection remained in fifth spot on the Digicel Pro League standings on Tuesday night after whipping defending champs and second positioned bmobile Joe Public 3-0 at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium in Round Two Match Day Three.

Trinidad and Tobago midfielder Hughton Hector scored a double to inspire the one sided affair while forward Hashim Arcia separated his teammate’s pair of goals with an item in the 33rd minute.

The standings remained the same following Tuesday’s round of matches with Defence Force leading the way with 31 points despite suffering a 2-1 defeat against sixth positioned DIRECTV North East Stars(19 points).

Joe Public(22 points) in second, Caledonia(21 points) AIA in third enjoyed a 5-0 win against ninth positioned Police FC, Ma Pau SC(20 points) enjoyed a 2-0 win against home team tenth positioned FC SouthEnd, W Connection(19 points) in fifth, San Juan Jabloteh(16 points) in seventh enjoyed a 2-0 win over eight positioned St. Ann’s Rangers(9 points).

Joe Public striker Kerry Baptiste thought he earned the Lions a dream start when he found the back of the net five minutes into the match, not realizing the linesman flag flashing on the right to cut short his celebration.

But 20 minutes into the match, Hector celebrated the opening item when he shocked Joe Public goalie Glenroy Samuel with a blast from outside the area beating the late dive with power for a 1-0 advantage.

Thirteen minutes later Connection doubled the advantage 2-0 when Andrei Pacheco’s well placed cross from the left was volleyed into the upper right corner by Arcia beating a hapless Samuel.

Connection grew in confidence and a couple minutes later Arcia provided Pacheco with a pass inside the Joe Public area, however Pacheco’s effort was blocked by defender Jevon Morris.

That confidence extended into the second period and by the 67th minute Connection held a 3-0 score after Romauld Aguillera dispossessed Trent Noel in the middle then slipped a through-ball setting Hector free against goalkeeper Samuel, and the midfielder easily chipped over the Joe Public second choice goalie.

It was a nightmare result for the visitors—even creating a frown on first choice Joe Public goalie Marvin Phillip who watched on from the stands. Phillip was unable to play against his former club in part of his loan arrangement from Connection to Joe Public.

Connection even created an opening in the 89th minute when Hector’s cross from the left towards substitute Christian Viveros was headed just wide by the Colombian midfielder.
