The Women’s National U-17 team suffered a 5-0 defeat against El Salvador’s National U-20 team on Wednesday night.

Despite the final result Head Coach Even Pellerud believes the team will emerge stronger following its first international defeat.

The National team conceded five goals to El Salvador in the encounter at Estadio Cuscatlan Stadium in Santa Tecla, El Salvador

Commenting on the result,  Pellerud says “ The girls went into this match very confident following their victory over Panama but this El Salvador team was more experienced and we must be cognizant of that fact.

But any defeat is difficult to accept, the girls will use this match as a learning experience. The game nevertheless exposed our weaknesses in terms of aggression, defensive discipline  and lack of effort”

The Head Coach and Director of Women’s Football says the team will go though various learning possesses  and all  victories and defeats will assist in creating  and shaping better players.  Pellerud once again commended his team for a good fight.

“The team was  a bit frustrated, the El Salvador team was quite strong,  the result would have been worse if not for the fantastic performance by the Goalkeeper, Saundra Baron and some of the other players”

Pellerud revealed that he will be making a number of changes before the next match.

“We will have changes after being exposed especially with the Center backs position and also with the Center Mids after trying different combinations; we do not have the right combination. The team has been in training since the beginning of the year, the players are leaning to adapt to different position and we must look at all of our games as learning experiences”

This is the team’s second international match; the National Team will play another game against El Salvador on Sunday night. The team will conclude its tour on August 9th.
