Andre Alexis and Dwight Cave scored two goals apiece as PFC FC slammed Marabella Family CC 7-1 to close the gap on unbeaten leaders T&TEC to one point in the Southern Football Association Petrotrin Super League Premier Division on Saturday.
Andre Ettienne, Nicholas Turton and Lester Moses added a goal each for PFC while Kevin Hudson got the lone reply for Marabella.
With the win, PFC now has 14 points from six matches, one behind T&TEC which has maximum 15 points from five matches and had a bye this weekend. Petrotrin Palo Seco and OJ Soldado All Stars, the third and fourth placed clubs on the 11-team standings also picked up valuable victories on Saturday.
Darren Alexis netted twice and Brandon Francis and Kervin Mark one each for Petrotrin in its 4-0 shut-out of cellar-placed PAL United to climb to 11 points from six matches. Soldado remained a point behind after blasting Brick Field Falcons 5-1 led by Amare Ettienne’s double strike.
However, in the Roy Jagroopsingh Second Division, the top two clubs, Centre for Excellence and Los Iros Fc were beaten by San Fernando Giants and UTT, 2-1 and 3-2 respectively.
