Gregory Mc Conney, Randy Ramcharan and former Guyana international Carey Harris were all on target as Harlem Strikers regained its winning touch in the CRILLE Central Football Association Premier Division with a 3-1 whippinmg of ADL Couva Sports at Frederick Settlement, Caroni on Saturday night.
Coming off a 1-1 draw with KC Perseverance United last week Tuesday, which ended its six-match winning streak to start the 2012 season, Strikers were eager to rebound with a victory and a minute before the half, Mc Conney opened the scoring.
Ramcharan made it 2-0 in the 69th minute but two minutes later Hakeem Martin reduced the deficit for Couva, only for Harris to seal all three points for Strikers, a minute before the final whistle.
With the victory, Strikers maintained its strangle hold on top of the 11-team table with 22 points, eight clear of Edinburgh 500 which had a similar 3-1 triumph over Cap Off Youths last Wednesday led by a goal each from Stephen Julien, Shekel Dennis and Andre Meyers.
Edinburgh was denied a chance to make the gap at the top even smaller after its match against Enterprise Youths FC was terminated by the referee with nine minutes left on Friday due to an onfield incident with the home team ahead 1-0 at the Edinburgh 500 Recreation Ground.
