Chad Appoo will serve as head coach for this country’s Men and Women’s Beach Soccer Teams that will participate in the 2022 Bahamas Beach Soccer Cup which takes place at the Beach Soccer Stadium, Sir Sidney Poitier Bridge in Nassau October 21-23.

T&T’s Women team will commence their campaign on October 21st against Turk and Caicos and close off the group stage against Bahamas on October 23rd.

On the men’s side, T&T will take on hosts Bahamas on October 21st before meeting Colombia on October 22nd and Costa Rica a day later in the group stage. Both T&T teams arrived in Nassau on Wednesday.

This tournament will serve as the commencement of preparations for the 2023 CONCACAF Beach Soccer World Cup qualifiers as well as the CAC Games in Colombia in November.

Appoo has been a standout player for the T& Beach Soccer Men’s Team for over a decade and will lead the team in the absence of former captain Ryan Augustine who also served as coach/player during the previous Concacaf Beach Soccer qualifiers.

The teams comprise of experienced and youthful players with the Men’s outfit including four players from the team that captured the silver medal at the 2017 Commonwealth U-18 Championship in Bahamas. Those players are Jordan Riley, Anderson Peters, Omni Baird and Kevon Williams.

Among the experienced bunch are goalkeeper Zane Coker, attacker Dominic Mc Dougall,who both played in Europe and in Champions league, the country’s most capped Beach Soccer player Jesse Bailey with Janeke Danzell and Keston Guy being two of the newcomers.

On the Women’s side, three members of the Gold Medal winning team from the 2017 Commonwealth Youth Games are included. They are Nia Honore, Tsai Ann Fernandez and Adanya Phillip. They are joined by National Women’s Senior Team Players for the regular version of the game, Summer Arjoon, Aaliyah Prince, Tenesha Palmer, Shaunalee Govia and Daniella Findley.

Also attending the Bahamas Beach Soccer Cup will be recently appointed President of the Caribbean Region for Beach Soccer Worldwide, T&T’s Sham Mohammed. He is expected to hold meetings with Bahamas FA President Anton Sealy and other officials about the staging of additional Beach Soccer events to further develop and promote the sport in the region.
