East Stroudsburg University sophomore Jason Rudder has been named the ABC Trophy, Inc. Athlete of the Week after scoring the game-winning goal in both games for the Warriors' men's soccer team last week.

Rudder (Trinidad, W.I./Notre Dame-East Stroudsburg) is second on the Warriors with 13 points (five goals, three assists) despite starting only four of their 12 matches this season. Rudder started both games last week in wins over Bloomsburg and Slippery Rock to help ESU extend its winning streak to eight games.

Rudder and high school teammate Danny Drago both scored goals in ESU's 2-1 victory at Bloomsburg on Wednesday, with Rudder's goal counting as the game-winner. On Sunday against Slippery Rock, Rudder broke a 1-1 tie in the 58th minute and assisted on the third goal by J.J. DiFerdinando as ESU went on to win 3-1.

ESU is No. 9 in this week's NSCAA/adidas rankings and leads the PSAC with a 9-1 record entering Saturday's game at California.

Each week ABC Trophy, Inc., of Stroudsburg awards an ESU Athlete of the Week. The selection is announced Tuesday and each student receives a red and silver plaque.
