After a disappointing loss yesterday to Lambuth, the Barry men’s soccer team bounced back with a convincing 2-0 win over NAIA #8 the Belhaven Blazers on Saturday.

Kendall Sealy checked into the game in the 28th minute and 06:00 minutes later rifled his first goal of the season past the Blazers’ keeper to give Barry a 1-0 lead in the match. Sean Trinidad intercepted a pass in the Belhaven defensive third and played a beautiful through ball to Sealy on the left corner of the box. Sealy then lifted a left-footed shot over a diving Belhaven keeper for the goal.

The Buccaneers took four shots in the first half and closed the half with a 1-0 advantage.

Mark Anderson also came off the bench and, like Sealy, made an immediate impact. Anderson entered the game at the 70:57 mark and scored during the 80th minute. Defender Glen Thomas started things rolling on a pass to Sealy from midfield. Sealy advanced the ball in to the attacking third for Barry then fed Anderson at the top of the box. Anderson blasted the ball through the upper 90 to give the Bucs a 2-0 lead in the match.

Sealy’s goal and assist marks the first time in his career the sophomore forward has posted one of each in one game.

Sophomore keeper Johnny Rodrigues tallied his fourth clean sheet of the year and collected eight saves on the day.

Barry dives into conference play in their next match. The Bucs host Tampa on Saturday, Oct. 2 at 7:00 p.m., with live game coverage available on the Buccaneer Broadcasting Network through Game Central.
