San Juan Jabloteh advanced in Caribbean Zone play of the CONCACAF Club Championships with a 3-1 aggregate win over Working Boys Company of Suriname.
After beating the Surinamese 3-1 on Wednesday at home in the first leg match at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Mucurapo, the T&T Pro League and Caribbean champion team and Working Boys played goalless in the return leg on Sunday at the Andre Kamperveen Stadium in Suriname.
Goalkeeper Daurance Williams was the star of Sundays return match, making some brilliant saves in the second half to deny the home side victory.
We played very wellvery solidlyand controlled the game in the first half, which was our intention, said Jabloteh coach Stephen Rutter.
In the second-half, when the home team created a couple of good chances, keeper Williams made some brilliant saves, he added.
Over the course of the game we, too, created at least six or seven opportunities, so the draw was a fair result.
Our intention was to just kill the game and stop them from getting any sort of momentum, Rutter said.
Jabloteh must now await the outcome of the home-and-away matches between teams from Jamaica and Montserrat to know their next opponents, as those matches were postponed because of hurricane Ivan.
