The Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation will stage its inaugural Girls Football Festival at the Marvin Lee Stadium from 930am on Tuesday December 13th, 2011.

This initiative, according to Women’s football administrator and ex-national player  Jinelle James, is the first of several of the TTFF’s projects aimed towards the development of girls and women’s football in Trinidad and Tobago.

The aim of this festival is as follows:

1. Introducing some of the fundamentals of the game to the players
2. Establishing a player pool for the National Programme
3. Showing the girls how to have fun with the game and hopefully igniting an even greater appreciation and love for the game
4. Using this as an opportunity to introduce our Senior players, so that the girls can truly believe that there are opportunities from football for girls.
5. Making new friends.

The event is spearheaded by the members of our Women’s National Programme and will be used as an opportunity to begin to scout for a pool of National Under 13 players while providing a fun day for the Players and Staff.  Coaches Even Pellerud,Jamaal Shabazz, Marlon Charles, Richard Hood, Stephan De Four and Joanne Daniel are among the coaches expected to be present.

“It’s an opportunity not just for scouting but for building relationships and trying to create a better understanding among all those involved. Several of the coaches as well as senior team players will be on hand and involved in the day’s proceedings and of course it’s a great opportunity for some of the young players in the country to be seen throughout the day of activities,” James told TTFF Media.
