TTFFSPORT Minister, Anil Roberts, in a written reply circulated in the Senate yesterday, said TT Football Federation (TTFF) had been given $35.96 million in State funds in the past six years.

Opposition Senator Fitzgerald Hinds had asked what funding the TTFF had received in the past five years, and what sum if any had given to the TTFF to help qualify for the last World Cup football campaign?

In reply Roberts said TTFF is TT’s governing body for amateur and professional football, for men and women, and for all ages. It’s mission is to have TT in the top three position in Concacaf.

Since 2007 to present, TTFF has received some $23 million from the Ministry of Sport and $12 million from SporTT, giving a total of almost $36 million.

In 2007, TTFF got some $20 million in total. For each of the following years in succession, the TTFF got total sums of only $2 million (in 2008), $1.1 million, $900,000, $8.6 million, and $3 million in 2012.
