Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA) president Raymond Tim Kee has praised the recent performances of the national senior women’s team and also pledged to do all possible to assist them to become the first from this country to qualify for a FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Port of Spain Mayor Tim Kee saluted the team on its triumph at the just concluded Women’s Caribbean Cup, which ended with the hosts securing a one-nil victory over Jamaica in the final on Tuesday at the Hasely Crawford Stadium.

Tim Kee vowed to give the team all available resources to prepare for the CONCACAF final round of World Cup qualifiers scheduled for the US in October. “Now in the remaining six weeks or so, before the final round in the US, and with the limited resources available to us, we will do whatever is possible to have the team engage in the best preparations for the final round in the US,” Tim Kee said.

Tim Kee witnessed the match in the presence of Minister of Sport Rupert Griffith, president of the Caribbean Football Union Gordon Derrick, CFU general secretary Damien Hughes, Sonia Bien-Aime, the first woman to be appointed to the CONCACAF Executive Committee, and Jamaica football president captain Horace Burrell.

“It was such a splendid display of pride, honour and true representation by our National Women’s Team during the one-week tournament here in our country,” Tim Kee stated. “What we saw from the team coached by Randy Waldrum and captained by Maylee Attin-Johnson was an indication of what true belief and proper execution can do in terms of achieving positive results and we saw them being able to bring a kind of joy to our fans who followed the team from the opening game against St Kitts/Nevis to the final against the never say die Jamaicans. “

The TTFA and the Caribbean Football Union also expressed gratitude to the supporters of the recent tournament. These include the Ministry of Sport, Sportt, Coca-Cola, Subway, Lifestyle Motors, Miscellaneous Marketing, the local organising committee and all volunteers, ball attendants, Matrix and Fully Loaded, Sound System, the protective services and the management and staff of the Hasely Crawford Stadium.
