Several of this country’s past footballers came out in their numbers to pay tribute to former national football team manager Richard Abraham and a man described as a friend of football by many.

And what better way to honor to honour two former servants of the beautiful game than through the game they love, with a match that featured a Joe Public team made up former national players coming up against a mixture of current Joe Public players.

Before the game started Mrs Madelene Abraham wife of the late Richard Abraham did the honours of the ceremonial kick off.

In the end the younger Joe Public squad was a notch above their older counterparts as they scored seven goals within the first two quarters with the old boys managing just one.

Amongst those coming out were former national goal keeper Ross Russell , strike squad Captain Clayton Morris and midfielders Arnold Dwarika along with Angus Eve.

Speaking to C Sports after the game Rhett Abraham was happy with the tribute paid to his father by the Joe Public club.

While former national goalkeeper Michael Mc Commie said it was important to pay tribute to two servants of the game that touched the lives of the many they encountered.
