TRINIDADIAN Clint Marcelle has launched a scathing attack on immigration officials following the collapse of his transfer to West Brom.

Marcelle, 31, who had his contract with Division One rivals Barnsley cancelled by mutual consent to allow his move to the Midlands, saw his appeal to gain a work permit rejected on Thursday.

Speaking last night from his Doncaster home, Marcelle claimed he would not have been turned down if he was a political asylum seeker from Afghanistan.

Now he has vowed to continue his fight to play for the Baggies with a second appeal.

The Trinidad and Tobago international said: 'I'll leave politics to the politicians but that really hurts. If I was a refugee from Afghanistan I would be able to claim political asylum.
