Portsmouth duo Steve Stone and Shaka Hislop have been told they will not be offered new deals at Fratton Park.

The pair have been released with their contracts expiring at the end of the season.

Hislop's future has been the subject of speculation for some time as he has been out of the first team picture for some time.

Stone's departure comes as something of a surprise as the former Nottingham Forest man has impressed this season.

Hislop admitted he was disappointed to be told he was no longer needed at the club.

"I'm disappointed and I don't know where I'm going to go from here," Hislop told The News.

"Things turned around under Alain Perrin and I was hoping I would be offered something.

"I was first-choice keeper under Harry Redknapp but when Velimir Zajec came in, it became apparent I was going nowhere.

"But when the new manager came in I was on the bench a lot and I thought I would be here next season.

"I had a meeting with him, however, and he told me a decision had been made and I was not part of his plans."

Stone admitted he was stunned to be leaving the club after a fine campaign.

"You get emotionally involved with a club and work your socks off and then this happens. I'm gutted," said Stone.
