The striker has been an integral part of the Soca Warriors’ squad for over a decade, and played a starring role in their qualification for the 2006 World Cup,  and went on to feature in all three games of the main edition, while garnering praise for his performances against Sweden and England, against whom, he gave Ashley Cole a hard time.

In all, he has featured 66 times for his country and is the fifth highest goalscorer in Trinidad & Tobago’s history, out-scoring a certain Dwight Yorke.

At club level, he has apperared for the likes of Mucurapo Senior Comprehensive, Metrostars (now NY Red Bulls), LA Galaxy, San Jose Earthquakes in USA and most recently the North East Stars in Trinidad and Tobago’s domestic league, while he also once had a trial with English club Leeds United.

Larsing Ming, General Secretary, Shillong Lajong FC stated, “We are extremely pleased with the signing of Cornell Glen and thank Libero Sports India who facilitated the transfer. I am confident Glen will gel well with the rest of the team and we look forward to him joining us.”

At Lajong, the speedy striker will be expected to bring the sort of cutting edge he regularly shows for the national team, for whom he has twice scored a hat-trick, once each against Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic. The player has signed on a contract of one year.

Arvind Narayan, Libero Sports Partner and Glen’s FIFA Licensed player agent said on his client’s appointment with the Reds, “Glen will be a great addition to Shillong Lajong. With his vast experience internationally, he will help Shillong Lajong in their quest for winning titles on all fronts. We wish him all the best.”

He shall become the second member of the 2006 Soca Warriors’ World Cup squad to feature in the I-League, after Densill Theobald, who starred for Dempo SC in the 2011-12 season, when they won the domestic league.

Libero Sports helped complete the deal.
