Swapping the football pitch for the catwalk was former Falkirk fan’s favourite Collin Samuel.

But Sammie, as he is best known to supporters, isn’t turning his back on the beautiful game, instead he’s hoping to ensure the people attending matches locally are the best dressed in the country.

He is about to launch a new sportswear range and recently family, friends and fellow footballers were given a sneak preview at an event in Falkirk’s Park Hotel.

The clothing range was well received by the audience and is soon to be available through his own website.

Collin (32) arrived at Falkirk FC in August 2002 from his home in Trinidad, quickly establishing himself as a popular player by notching up 16 goals in 42 appearances.

He eventually moved to Dundee United for £100,000 in the summer of 2003 and has turned out for several other teams since then, including Luton and St Johnstone. He now plays for junior club Sauchie.

However, the striker has decided to branch out by launching Collin Samuel Brands and his first venture is a sportswear range, bearing his nickname, Sammie.

Designed for all the family, the colourful clothing includes t-shirts, sweatshirts, shorts and jogging bottoms.

Collin, who was a member of the Trinidad and Tobago World Cup squad in 2006 and played against Sweden, said: “Football has been good to me and I’ve developed this brand for fans and supporters so they can feel part of it.”

He joins a growing number of footballers, albeit usually playing at a higher level, who have gone down the route of launching their own clothing range, including David Beckham and Rio Ferdinand.
