Real Salt Lake has signed defender Noah Powder from Real Monarchs, the club announced today. Powder will join RSL for the 2021 season.

“Noah is another success story of our development model.  He’s a young, talented player who came into the Monarchs with something to prove and is hungry to show his skills at every level,” RSL General Manager Elliot Fall said.  “He proved it by helping lead the team to a championship in 2019 and he’s really taken a step forward this year in terms of what he brings on the field and what he brings to the locker room.  We are excited to see him at our Club for years to come.”

Powder, 21, featured in 30 regular season matches for the Monarchs in 2019, scoring two goals in 2,629 minutes.  In the playoffs, he notched two assists and scored in the USL Championship Final to secure the club’s first title. To date, Powder has nine goals and seven assists in 90 USL matches, logging 7,050 minutes.  That includes one goal and four assists in 10 appearances this season.

“I’m grateful for this opportunity from this great organization.  I am extremely grateful for my time as a Monarch and want to thank their staff in helping me reach my goal,” Powder said.  “As a Monarch the main goal is to play well and earn a chance with Real Salt Lake.  I'm excited for this opportunity and ready for what’s to come in the near future."

Powder joined the Monarchs prior to the 2019 season as a young veteran in the USL Championship. Success has followed since his professional career began in 2016. The New Jersey native and Trinidad and Tobago international joined New York Red Bulls II in 2016 and helped NYRBII to a USL title as a rookie. After spending two years in Harrison, New Jersey, Powder joined Orange County SC in the USL Championship where he helped OCSC to the Western Conference Final in 2018.  Internationally, he played extensively at the U-18 and U-20 levels for Trinidad and Tobago in 2015 and 2016.

“We have been tracking Noah for a while and the Monarchs staff has done a great job with him.  He’s been in some big games at the USL level with multiple teams so he has a lot of experience there,” RSL Head Coach Freddy Juarez said.  “We feel he has the technical ability to play at the next level.  Now we have to challenge him to help him reach his full potential and help the team.”
