Avery John’s trial at Leeds United has ended with the English Championship side deciding not to pursue the possible signing of the Trinidad and Tobago international any further, according to his agent, Patrick McCabe.

John’s trial began on 29 November and saw him feature in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Middlesbrough. The 31-year-old was granted permission by the Revolution to try out for Leeds, though he remains under contract with MLS.

John was a member of the Trinidad and Tobago squad that played in its first-ever World Cup Finals in Germany last summer. Following his return from a tournament in which he started two of his country’s three games, the left-sided defender made a spot in the Revolution backline his own with a string of consistent displays alongside Jay Heaps and Michael Parkhurst.
