Newly promoted English Premiership club Hull City have joined the race for Trinidad and Tobago striker Stern John. This means that the current Southampton topscorer could make a return to the Premiership after being there with Birmingham City a couple years ago.
But there’s one thing stopping him at the moment. Southampton are asking a big price for him which could turn Hull away.

It is understood that John has been getting interest from a few clubs including Watford and another in Saudi Arabia which is offering a lucrative deal for the former Nottingham Forest man. But word is that Hull have already approached Southampton but the transfer fee being discussed may be too much while Watford are said to be unable to match John’s current wages. He preferred to remain tightlipped over the current matter.

“I know there have been a few clubs showing interest because I did enough last season by getting among the goals and helping Southampton stay up. But at the moment there’s nothing much that I can say. At the moment I’m with Southampton. The main thing for me is to ensure I take care of myself and start the season well and also try to do my best for Trinidad and Tobago in the World Cup qualifiers. Going to another World Cup is a big part of my hopes,” John told TTFF Media.

Hull, on Wednesday, signed three new players including 34-year-old T&T English-born goalkeeper Anthony Warner, as well as Hungry winger Peter Halmosi and 32-year-old Netherlands international midfielder George Boetang.
